For NT migration, the two most critical services are the Linux Adoption support if you choose to go open standards or the IBM SmoothStart Services to migrate from Windows® NT to Windows® 2000.

  Linux services

As the adoption of Linux continues, so does the need for services to support the growing market. Services increasingly are becoming an integral part of the total solution.

We provide the services from assessment and planning, design and development, implementation, testing, production and live running, and learning services.


  IBM SmoothStart Services

IBM SmoothStart Services for Windows® NT to Windows® 2000 Server Migration provides ease of migration without having to know the complexities of the two networking systems, provides access to quality services from experienced IBM professionals through proper planning, minimises potential disruptions to the current business operations.

The IBM SmoothStart Services for Basic Windows® NT to Windows® 2000 Migration starts from as low as S$1,200.

The services include:

Planning
  • Plan and review project schedule
  • Manage IBM and customer activities
  • Report project status to customer
  • Determine required information for installation and server configuration
  • Verify compliance of prerequisite

Migration Service
  • Perform 'in place' migration of Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server on 1 existing Microsoft® Windows® NT Server
  • Migrate user accounts, file shares and printer shares on Windows® NT server to the Windows® 2000 environment.
  • Migrate network Services (WINS, DNS, DHCP) from Windows® NT server to the Windows® 2000 environment.
  • Demonstrate the steps required to change client settings to log on to the migrated server if required for up to 5 client machines

Installation Testing and Verification
Verification testing will be conducted on the newly installed Windows® 2000 Network Operating System. This will include the following activities:

  • Test that the 5 migrated network clients are able to login to the server.
  • Test that the migrated network resources are accessible on the network.
  • Test the newly configured Windows® 2000 services if applicable.

Skill Transfer
The customer's designated personnel will receive basic instructions on Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server administration procedures for up to 2 hours at customer site.
