Rethink IT and Reinvent Business with IBM SmartCloud

Today, enterprises are turning to the cloud to revamp existing business models and manage an unprecedented rate of change. In fact, the number of enterprises moving to cloud computing will double within the next few years as they seek to transition IT from a cost center to a strategic center of business innovation. Case study: SmartCloud Control Desk and Endpoint Manager improves service at St Vincent's Health Australia

The Information Technology Service Centre at St Vincent's Health Australia manages 6,000 PCs/notebooks, 3,000 printers and around 14,000 staff across all sites. Their 15-year-old service desk solution could not keep up with the growing needs of an increasingly digitized and mobile environment. In May 2011 they started to investigate a new solution, and discovered that IBM SmartCloud Control Desk (SCCD) had everything they needed to provide self-service, asset tracking, problem management, change management and ticket logging -- out of the box! A major advantage was that SCCD integrated with their currently deployed IBM Tivoli Endpoint Management, in use for over four years. Some of the advantages of the deployed solution include: improved service quality; reduce costs and risk via software license management; improved efficiency through SCCD/Tivoli Endpoint Manager integration; and consolidation of disparate systems into a single SCCD solution.

Crafting An Adaptive Mobile Security and Management Posture

Security and Management are a balancing act, especially when it comes to addressing the adoption of emerging technologies that promise to unlock business potential.  New devices, empowered employees and savvy consumers are all motivating enterprises to aggressively pursue mobile initiatives as an integral part of their businesses. As these initiatives become more well understood, a better grasp of the security requirements can be attained – however, given the dynamic nature of the mobile market, it can be difficult for an enterprise to get a good grasp of how to go about defining their mobile risk management strategy. Organizations need to make informed selections and decisions on the mobile security and management solutions they deploy – and organizational inertia itself can lead to increased risk exposure. Gaining a better understanding of the solutions landscape and identifying the key facilities that make deployments successful and effective are important to grasp. This session will highlight the key areas of focus for designing a mobile security posture, including: The critical capabilities and best practices an organization can employ to meet the operational requirements of their mobile initiatives;   How to effectively defend mobile devices and the data; Advice for how an organization can evaluate where best to begin or continue security investments to best serve their risk profileresiding on them to protect the network – and access to it – all the way to securing the apps that deliver rich user experiences
