Mr. Sam Palmisano, chairman and CEO of IBM, is the Honorary Chair of Engineers Week 2008 with the theme of diversity in engineering.
In Hong Kong school visits are organised to increase students' awareness and appreciation of engineering careers. Your school is cordially invited to join the program.
Objectives
- To provide students an opportunity to experience and learn technology in a fun and pressure-free way;
- To encourage students to continue studying math and science subjects, pursuing their careers in science-related fields; and
- To provide an insight of life working in engineering field.
The Program
It is a 2.5-hour visit at your school including a featured speech about engineering as well as hands-on problem solving game to help students gain a better understanding about technology and engineering. A featured video is also shown to give students a broaden view on engineering. During the visit, we would solicit volunteers of your upper form students as assistant coaches to develop their leadership skills.
Target
Students from Primary 5 to Secondary 1.
Time of the program
- Hong Kong's Engineers Week will be the first two weeks of July, series of school visits will be arranged to promote science and engineering.
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) workshops will be organised to fit schools' schedule like science week or other extracurricular activities throughout the year.
