A little about IndusInd Bank.
IndusInd Bank is a top private sector bank in India with a
net worth of 183.08 million US dollars and a network of
61 branches, 12 extension counters and 80 off-site ATMs.
Started in 1994, it is a leader in the field of retail banking
and has earned the ISO certification for its entire network.
IndusInd Bank recently acquired the Ashok Leyland
Finance Company, raising its net worth by 46 million US
dollars.
The company's growing pains.
IndusInd Bank focuses mainly on retail banking which
requires a high degree of customer service and response.
Retail banking also entails a variety of banking products like
multi-city banking, mobile banking, doorstep banking,
phone banking and Internet banking services. Having
understood these requirements, IndusInd Bank knew they
had to change their IT infrastructure so that they could
handle the increase in business transactions and meet the
demands of the market.
IndusInd Bank decided to implement Core Banking based
on the Midas Kapiti suite of applications. They had already
been running their applications on IBM AS400 Model 730.
But the anticipated growth meant that they needed to
upgrade to larger systems that were flexible and
continuously available.
The IBM solution.
For a bank of IndusInd's magnitude of operations, IBM
recommended the high-end IBM eServer iSeries 870 and
825 Capacity Upgrade On Demand servers and the
implementation of Business Continuity and Disaster
Recovery solutions using MIMIX.
IBM's xSeries servers were integrated to the iSeries to
ensure optimisation of their back office server
infrastructure and make manageability easier. IBM also
provided printers, Lotus software, installation and
migration services, and on-site support.

The result - banking is easy.
With IBM’s servers, IndusInd Bank now has a more
reliable, available and On-demand infrastructure to run
their core banking applications. Along with security,
customers have the flexibility to increase the capacity of
the system based on usage. The disaster recovery and
business continuity plans ensure that applications are
available to the users even if there is system or a site
failure.
Thus IndusInd Bank has understood the advantage of
having a single IT company with the expertise to deploy
and manage their infrastructure. They have identified IBM
as an end-to-end solutions provider that would suit their
needs completely and benefited from the alliance.
