The team at ISL is responsible for developing IBM's collaborative technology and solutions including IBM Workplace, WebSphere Portal and Lotus Notes and Domino, which integrate people, data and business processes to create the "human side" of IBM's On Demand and SOA strategies.

Activities in the department include software development, product testing and product servicing and support. Successful candidates would have the opportunity to:
- Build on existing software development skills to help deliver high quality solutions in the collaboration middle-ware and pervasive computing environments.
- Work in cross-functional teams, where necessary, to deliver a specific line item or project (each cross-functional team is responsible for the complete lifecycle of their items from requirements to release).
- Use Rational Tools in their day-to-day role. Prior experience would be welcomed but is not a prerequisite.
- Participate in proof-of-concept prototype development in collaboration and social computing areas using emerging technologies.

There is the opportunity to work with customers from around the world in order to gain an understanding of how our products need to evolve to meet their needs.
Applicants will need to be experienced software developers ideally with Java, Web development experience. IBM Websphere portal knowledge would be an advantage, but is not essential. Experience of working with clients would be useful. Enthusiasm coupled with a desire and ability to learn new things is essential.
