Project Praviin is an innovative program launched under the aegis of IBM Academic Initiative worldwide to partner with colleges and universities in India to better educate millions of students for a more skilled and competitive IT workforce. Professional certifications have become even more important as companies prefer to hire people who need little or no on-job training. A professional IBM certification in open standards technologies can make the difference between getting hired and being left out, which is what this program offers. Through broad range of resources and support to students, faculty and institutions, aiming to provide skills in open standards by imparting professional training and certification, Project Praviin is critical in a fast-paced and ever-changing IT industry.

Why?
To counter the dynamics of this ever-changing educational and professional scenario, IBM Software Group’s ISV/DR organization embarked upon a game-changing initiative, ‘Project Praviin’ in February 2009. ‘ It was clear from inception that scale was just as critical as depth. Reaching more students across all Indian states received equal consideration while ensuring availability of sufficient certified resources to build competency and capacity. Project Praviin aimed at infusing skills on IBM Middleware across India has the following objectives:

• Creating pool of skilled resource on IBM Middleware
• Ensuring availability of industry ready IBM certified students.
• Build a self sustaining model to ensure a continuous stream of competent skills in the market.
• Create infrastructure for training business partners & students at multiple locations.
• Build strong linkages between IBM, Academia, IBM's Business Partners and Clients , various other industry groups & Government, for a collaborative ecosystem in the software industry.
