3 years working with Australian Open.

Favourite thing about AO:

The fact that it's a small close-knit team that pulls off a massive event.

Works With:

Everything! Well almost, but primarily hardware, network infrastructure, security, intranet, and the Official Website - www.AustralianOpen.com.

Sit back, relax, enjoy.

Hey guys,

We're 6 days into the tournament and our workload has dropped right off. All hardware has been deployed, and all areas have been fully operational for a few days. Now we just sit back, enjoy the tennis, and deal with any issues that arise.

As for today, it's been a long one. Matches on outside courts were delayed then postponed due to rain which means continually updating TV's and scoreboards with "Play not before" messages, and bringing statisticians on and off court when the rain stops. The final match for the day (Hewitt vs. Baghdatis) is in the third set, and has been going for over 2 1/2 hours. Hopefully we all make it home soon, and get a few hours of well-deserved sleep in.

The server room.

Hey guys,

During the tournament we have two server rooms on-site. They're full of great IBM gear that keeps the tournament up and running. Click on the video below for a guided tour of the main server room.

Media Room Tour.

Hey guys,

Come inside and have a look at the Australian Open Media Work Room. It's full of accredited media journalists and photographers, around 700 if memory serves me right. Click below to check it out.

It's not the box seat - it's just a box

Step inside and take a look at my "home" for the duration of the tournament. Although it looks like a shipping container (okay, it is a shipping container), it's actually pretty comfortable once you're inside. Click on the video and I'll invite you in.

Get ready for lockdown

_Wednesday January 2nd 2008

So far, so good. All the laptop, printer, phone, and network deployments are moving along at a steady pace and we are also doing some final testing on entrance point laptops and scanners..

The American team from IDS are onsite and the scoring network is currently undergoing testing. No sleeping in for me - tomorrow at 6:00am the site goes into tournament mode lockdown. Got to go...

I think I'll sit outside for this one.
