Announcing the establishment of the IBM Open Computing Centre (OCC)!
The OCC is made up of two nodes - IBM Linux Integration Zone (LIZ)
and the NYP-IBM Web Services Innovation Zone (WIZ).
 |
| NYP-IBM Web Services Innovation Zone |
 |
| WIZ, a joint
partnership between IBM and Nanyang Polytechnic
(NYP) that builds upon IBM's leadership in web
services as well as NYP's expertise in software
design, development and commitment to innovation.
Web services are software components that employ
one or more of the following technologies to perform
distributed computing for integrating companies,
customers, suppliers and employees over the Internet
in heterogeneous environments:
- eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
- Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
- Web Services Description Language (WSDL)
- Universal Description, Discovery and Integration
(UDDI)
The WIZ facility is located at Nanyang Polytechnic's
campus (NYP) at Ang Mo Kio |

 |
| LIZ promotes
the adoption of Linux by business partners, customers
and developers by providing them with a platform
to rapidly build, test and deploy a wide variety
of Linux-based solutions, including solutions
for finance, retail, e-commerce, telecommunications,
distribution and manufacturing. Through LIZ, IBM
provides training for the enablement of IBM Linux-based
middleware, products and solutions as well as
Linux technical support and integration services.
The facility, located at IBM's regional headquarters
at Changi Business Park, helps users quickly deliver
solutions on an open platform that is integrated,
pre-configured and tested for maximum results.
The OCC and its two zones receive technical direction
and engagement support from IBM's worldwide Linux
Integration Centers, IBM R&D facilities developing
Web Services software, and IBM Industry Solution
Labs.
