• Delivers ultimate processor performance with eight cores using larger and better optimised 12MB L2 cache
• Maximise multi-threaded applications for faster and concurrent execution

Up to 16GB Fully Buffered Dual inline memory module (DIMM) internal memory with 4GB DIMM support

• Fully Buffered DIMM memory delivers better memory bandwidth and reduced latency over double data rate (DDR) II resulting in better application performance
• Error checking and correction (ECC) offer high performance with mainframe-inspired fault protection.
• Expandable to 8 DIMMs (up to 32GB) with Memory and I/O Expansion Unit

64-bit extensions

• The HS21 blade features the Intel Xeon Processor supporting Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology
• Provides 64-bit addressability while supporting both 64- and 32-bit applications, allowing for a smooth transition to 64-bit enabled applications while leveraging the price and performance of existing applications

Support for up to five hard disk drives (HDDs)

• The HS21 supports two internal small form factor (SFF) 10,000 revolutios per minute (rpm) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) HDDs.
• Optional three hot-swap 2.5" SAS HDDs with Storage and I/O blade (SIO)
• The SIO also allows you to add an optional Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID)-5 controller with battery-backed cache

Integrated dual GbE connections

• The TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) capable NICs are enabled to transmit large amounts of data at fast speeds for high-performance network applications
• Robust design supports teaming and failover.
• These NICs will also support RDMA and iSCSI via a software key (availability is planned)

Two high-availability midplane connections

• Provides durable and reliable connections to all chassis resources

Blade server interconnects

• Supports an optional 2-port (up to 4 GB per port) FC Expansion Card (Host Bus Adapter (HBA)) to deliver a high-performance, highly manageable storage area network (SAN)
• Supports an optional 2-port GbE Expansion Card to enable additional Ethernet bandwidth and allow for connection to multiple local area network (LAN) segments
• Supports an optional iSCSI Expansion Card for a lower cost storage option
• Supports up to four PCI-Express connected high-speed fabrics, including 4X InfiniBand

Light path diagnostics standard

• Provides quick and easy guide to troubleshoot your server for higher availability and system uptime
• Independently powered, allowing you to remove the server from the chassis and still illuminate the light path light emitting diodes (LEDs)

PFA

• Helps save you time and money by decreasing planned and unplanned downtime
• Helps increase uptime by allowing you to receive proactive alerts as much as 24-48 hours in advance

Integrated System Management Processor

• Increases server availability by continuously monitoring your system and notifying you of potential system failures or changes
