IBM's Global Mirror for the DS8000 series, for example, is designed to help minimise peak bandwidth by using continuous, ongoing data transmission. Secure solutions

IBM now offers you the industry's first tape drive based encryption for the enterprise,¹ the latest entry in an already extensive portfolio of security products from IBM. IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) builds on this by providing the ability to combine multiple IBM and even non IBM disk storage devices providing a multi-tier single point of management for practically unlimited scalability and support for up to 1024 servers
Beyond its significant capabilities that apply to all supported servers, IBM System Storage DS8000 has additional synergies with IBM system servers. IBM will generally be the first – and sometimes the only – vendor to support these synergistic disk storage functions. Some examples:
- For System i, IBM supports the System i Copy Services Toolkit for ease of management.
- For System p, HACMP-XD provides integrated support for DS8000 Metro Mirror (remote copy) to coordinate server failover with disk system remote mirroring for enhanced availability.
- For System z, IBM has previewed DS8000 support for ultra-large 3390 disk volumes to provide increased scalability and ease-of-management.
