IBM Hanoi Branch

IBM set up its business and operated in Vietnam from 1938 to 1975. In 1993, IBM returned to Vietnam for a market evaluation, and in 1994 put up Representative Offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Shortly, IBM Vietnam was re-established and became one of the first 100% foreign-invested IT companies in Vietnam.

Both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh IBM branches are focused on key sectors like government, Telecommunications and Banking. Majority of the clients in Vietnam are being served via these two offices.

In 2007 and 2008, a number of new industry-specific centers were set up to build local capability to support the market. Some examples include the Banking Center of Excellent, Cloud Computing Center, and Global Delivery Center in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2009, IBM Vietnam set up the System z Competency Center at the Vietnam Innovation Center located at the Ho Chi Minh branch.
